Service Hours

The involvement and commitment of our school families are qualities that make St. Elizabeth School what it is...a school that is committed to goodness and excellence, and a community that works together to foster our youths during their educational journey. Fulfilling the service hours commitment gives each family an opportunity to be a part of their child's Catholic education first-hand. It also allows us to strengthen our community environment by building relationships among families while working together towards a common goal. Whether you decide to spend your hours volunteering in the classroom, building a haunted house for Fiesta or joining the committee to plan our Gala, you are bound to make new fiends and make a difference in your child's education.

How many hours do I have to work?

A single parent family is required to work 15 hours and a two parent family 30 hours; however, please check your contract to confirm the number of hours you have signed to. Remember no more than 10 hours of service for the parish can count towards your school service hours requirement, this includes Boy/Girl Scouts.

What happens if I do not complete my service hours?

The contract you signed with the school states that you are required to work a certain number of service hours. Each family has the opportunity to "working" these hours in lieu of paying out cash. Hours that are not completed by year end will be billed at the rate of $15.00 per hour.

How do I get credit for the hours I work?

You must complete a Service Hours Record Form and put this form in the Service Hours Box located in the school office. This applies to everyone whether they are working at a particular event, serving on a committee, PTO Board, School Board, etc. We can only credit families for completed service hours base on the forms we receive. Service Hours Record Forms will be given to each family the first week of school in the Weekly Bulletin. Forms will also be available in the school office next to the Service Hours Box throughout the year. At the end of each trimester, a report will be sent to you, via the weekly bulletin, and it will show how many hours you have completed and how many hours are still outstanding. Remember to fill out the Service Hours Forms completely, as many families have the same last name. Also, when possible, try to get someone to verify that you have in fact worked the hours you have entered. Normally this would be the person who asked you to work at the event, a committee member or chairperson of the event. There are instances when it is not possible to get someone to verify your hours. In this case, complete your form without verification and place it in the Service Hours Box in the school hour.

Hours can also be sent to servicehours@saint-elizabeth.org.
