NOTES FROM MRS. C.          scroll and cap

Dear Parents,

Quite often I refer to Ms. Kathy and Mrs. Barr as  my bookends.  Both of these remarkable women hold up the two ends of our student body.  This week, with much love and preparation on their part, we celebrate graduations.

Tuesday evening, our Kindergarten class graduated. Those who were fortunate enough to have had children in Ms. Kathy’s class know that this is a special day that is locked into the memory forever.  It is always amazing to me to see how much these children grow and learn over one year.  If we could expand our minds to that degree in one year, the possibilities would be endless!  These young children are full of joy and promise!

Tomorrow evening another graduation celebration will take place in our Grotto.  This celebration of our eighth grade graduates is also full of joy and promise, but moments of sadness as we send these young men and women onto new and exciting adventures in high school.  This has been an amazing class that has brought laughter and energy to our school.  They have discovered “growing pains” and have accepted the challenges they bring. We are so very proud of their accomplishments and have high expectations for their future.

The graduating class this year also has a majority number of “final year” families.  We are so grateful for the time and dedication these families have contributed to the St. Elizabeth community.  We give them our blessings and know that, although their children no longer attend out school, they will continue to be cherished members of our “family”.

This is the final newsletter of the school year.  It has been an incredible year and a fulfilling year.  Many of our faculty and staff have been working overtime to further their education to bring the best educational practices into the classroom.  This effort is not done without great sacrifice of time, energy, and often sleep!  We have an outstanding faculty and staff that allow us to be an exemplary example to other educational institutions! I thank you parents for your support and understanding as we strive to make your children’s educational experience the best it can be.

I would also like to extend my warmest thanks to all of you for supporting “Angels Among Us” this year, our inaugural year.  I am beyond words in describing the gratitude I have to the Angels Committee and to the response from the community.  It is a true testimony to your dedication to the children and the educational excellence we all strive toward.

Another example of how we are so blessed in this community is by the presence, contribution and support from Fr. Edwin and Juliette.  They are present to our children, faculty, staff and parents on a daily basis as examples of faith, as teachers, as spiritual leaders and as counsel; but most of all as friends  and I thank them personally for these gifts to our school community.

Finally, I am so blessed to be included as part of this amazing community that embraces our children as gifts of God, celebrates diversity and allows each voice to be recognized as an integral part of what we are and can become.  Thank you for your support and love that permeates all that we strive to achieve.  God bless you this summer and keep you safe and embraced in is His infinite love.

With gratitude,

Jeanette Cardamone

Summer School & Summer Fun

Avoid “Summer Loss”

glassesInformation regarding summer school was sent home a few weeks ago.  There are academics, arts and fun!  There are a few spaces still available.  This is a great opportunity to make sure your child doesn’t fall into the “summer loss” statistics, where research shows that children lose significant academic ground over the summer.  Consider a fun class like digital photography which will include writing to develop and enhance writing skills or a class of arts and gardening that will help with organizational skills and expand verbal and written language.
