NOTES FROM MRS. C.
Dear Parents,
Happy Summer! I hope all our families are enjoying the lazy days of summer and finding time to enjoy family and friends. The office staff, Jose and I are busy preparing the school for the 09-10 school year! We are looking forward to an exciting year of growth and new adventures. Our school year begins with several community events: new parent welcome dinner, Kindergarten parent orientation, school family BBQ, and the welcome continental breakfast. Back to School and Articulation nights focus on the classroom and academics. We hope that you make it a priority to attend these events as they all serve a purpose in transitioning families and students into the new school year.
Please take the time to read through this newsletter. It is the first of a weekly newsletter that is emailed to every family. Additionally, we send a hard copy home on the second Thursday of each month with additional flyers as needed in a family envelope. This will begin in September. Please remove all items from the envelope, sign the envelope and return it the next day. You may also use the envelope to submit communication with the office. Not returning the envelope will incur a replacement fee. We find that parents who read the weekly communication are well informed and find their experience here at St. Elizabeth fulfilling.
Another important form of communication is the parent handbook, which will be distributed at Back to School Night. Included in the handbook is the school calendar, which includes all major events and schedule variances. Please keep it in a convenient location.
Please make sure that your child arrives in complete uniform the first day of school and brings all the supplies listed on the supply list (found on the website). The first day of school, Wednesday, September 2nd, is a noon dismissal and there is no hot lunch that day. Children staying for Kids’ Club will need to pack a lunch that day.
The hot lunch program begins Thursday, September 3rd. The menu is enclosed. Please complete the order form and return it before the deadline to eliminate additional charges and ensure your child’s name on the lunch list. 5th through 8th grade students have the option this year to order a larger portion for an additional 50 cents. Emergency lunches will only be provide 3 times, after that, parents will be called to bring a lunch for the student. Once emergency lunches are paid for, the student may receive additional lunches. We are pleased to continue our relationship with Amy’s Patio Café of Altadena to provide healthy lunches for our students. Please consider patronizing their restaurant on Lake and Altadena Dr. as a thank you for all they do for our students.
Enjoy the remainder of our summer days and keep in your prayers some members of our community who are struggling with health crises.
Blessings,
Jeanette Cardamone
Principal

CELL TOWER FINAL DETERMINATION
In an effort to facilitate communication regarding the
T-Mobile cell tower and St. Elizabeth Parish; I would like to inform you that T-Mobile has made the decision to withdraw from the project here at St. Elizabeth Church. We appreciate your patience and input in this process and did our best to respond to the needs of the community. We look forward to finding new ways of working together to ensure the well being of all our children. In addition, we hope that the school community will work in partnership with the parish to ensure financial stability that supports the ministries and the mission of St. Elizabeth parish and school. As any additional information comes from the parish, I will keep the school families informed.
SUMMER SCHOOL REQUIRMENT
If your child was required to attend summer school for Math or English and he/she did not attend St. Elizabeth; proof must be submitted to the school.
