Spotlight Message - Spirit of Peace

St. Clare and St. Francis of Assisi
We are entering our sixth week of the school year!  The students have settled into their school routines and rituals. It has been a joy to finally have everyone back on to campus.  The student’s excitement to learn, to explore, and to challenge themselves and their classmates has been great to experience and be a part of.  I applaud our faculty for their efforts in the classroom and the staff performing their “behind the scenes” tasks.  A special shout-out to the parents who have done a great job with Morning Carline!  It is the little things that make a big difference in our school community.

A small piece of artwork that may go unnoticed during the daily transition to classes, recess, lunches, and dismissals is a fresco located on the second floor of the Jr. High wing.  The picture depicts St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi feeding birds on our campus.  The Saints were known for their intellect, spirituality, and their work taking care of the poor.

The fresco is special to me for many reasons.  I appreciate the reason why the fresco was created in the first place.  As a gesture of thanksgiving for his children’s education at St. Elizabeth, a parent painted the fresco and created the St. Elizabeth of Hungary mosaic by my office.

As we settle more into our October school activities and events: CYO fall sports, Casino Night, Let Your Light Shine fundraiser, Mass at the Cathedral, Halloween Parade and Trunk or Treat, let us not forget that our gestures will go a long way at St. Elizabeth.  I pray that we are strengthened in mind and spirit this month.  And also that St. Francis’s spirit of peace continues to cover our school community.

Peace and Blessings,
Dr. Phyllis Cremer, Principal
